This might be one of the toughest things Christ ever said to us...“not seven times, but seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:22). How can this be? How can i truly forgive someone who comes to me 490 times in a day asking for forgiveness??? First, there is a process to go through when we are offended. That process involves an acknowledgement of the true hurt, and allowing ourselves to feel it. Then we sit before the Master and let him sooth with His presence. Over time, this process can be very quick - even exactly while we are being offended. If we don't sit through this process we have an outer appearance of forgiveness, but an inner heart that is bitter. Once we learn how to go through it, and we do it over and over, we then come to a choice about whether we will continue to forgive or hold on. A day may come when we thought we forgave but suddenly we are flooded with feelings of resentment and bitterness. Will we choose to sit with the Master - Be still and know that I AM God - and let go of the offenses of the past?.
