They do not suffer as other people do. They do not have the troubles that other people have. They wear their pride as a necklace. and violence as a robe. Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place? Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth? Tell me, if you know all this, do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you raise your voice to the clouds? And if you command the lightning to flush, will it come to you and say, At your service? Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him. I am unworthy. How can I reply to you? Are you trying to prove that I am unjust to put me in the wrong and yourself in the right? Eliphaz! Bring your friends Bildad and Zophar and come before me. I am angry with you. You have not spoken the truth about me or about my righteous servant. Job, pray for your three friends so that I do not do to them what they deserve. Could your children have sinned and received the punishment they deserved? We bring trouble on ourselves just as surely as sparks fly up from the fire. God does not turn his face from you because you stand in awe of him. No. It is because you have sinned so much.
