And, you know, this week I've been going through something that many Christians go through. And that's discouragement. You know, it talks about that we go through the highs and the lows. We're on the mountaintop and we're down in the valley. And, you know, and Christians do go through times in the valley. But, you know, I've been going through that this week, the valley times. And you know what? They're not the most fun of times. But you know what? In this valley time that I've been going through, in this time of this discouragement, something very interesting happened in my life. And you know what? It may just change everything. Foolish stuff. Foolish stuff. I just, I can't, I can't believe it. You know, people can't be proud of a preacher like that. I mean, it's just ridiculous. Hey, Pastor Jay. Why so sad? Miss Jones I've been sitting here Just thinking about all the stupid stuff I've done this past year I'm so stupid Foolish I don't even know why I even bother Why do I even bother I should just quit and get out I mean what kind of a leader am I The way that things happen to me I mean it's dumb It's dumb I mean Oh, you haven't done anything stupid. Oh, I haven't done anything stupid. Well, okay, okay. What about the stupid thing that I did when I was taking over from Miss Worthington Gates' home and I spilled grape juice all over a rug? How about that? Was that smart? I wonder where she leaves the remote at. Oh! Anybody could do that. I mean, anybody spills stuff and does stuff. I mean, that could happen to anybody. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Okay. What about the time I was trying to take over for her nephew, her grandchild? But please, let's do something and get this crying over with. Okay, we're going to eat some applesauce, okay? Applesauce, it's good for you. Num num num num num. Num nums, okay? Num nums. I'm losing my mind here. Look, it's applesauce. It's good for you. It's good. It's good to the last drop. You have got to be kidding me! Well, there again, there's a lot of guys that don't change baby's diapers and do stuff like that. I mean, they just don't like it and they have a hard time doing it. I mean, there's a lot of guys that do that. I mean, I don't see anywhere that's so stupid. Yeah. Oh, yeah? Okay. Okay. Well, what about the time I, instead of using a spear gum for the beard, I ended up using quick dry cement. Oh, oh, Mick Jones! Mick Jones! Mick Jones! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! I'm trying to get it off! It's attached to my face! I thought if we pulled her a little bit, we could get it. Well, it wasn't working! How? I tried! Yeah, you tried all more! Ow! Did your face hurt? Oh no, no! No, it doesn't hurt at all! Yeah, it's real funny, isn't it? Yeah, it's real funny, yeah. That was dumb, wasn't it? Well, it's just something that not everybody does, I mean, you know. But if you look back on it, you know, you can kind of chuckle that it was a little on the funny side. I mean, you know. I mean, you know. I mean, we all do dumb things in our lives. You know, I guess there's only one good thing that happened to me this year. And that was part of it. Oh, I thought she was going to say I became your secretary. But I understand. I mean, she's been a great companion to you and she's been, you know, something you've needed. You've become pals. I remember the time I first met her. I know. You didn't want her. Now I can't imagine my life without her. You have a blessed, blessed day. Okay? Okay. Alright. Bye now. Awesome. Hey! Well, you might as well finish that now! What, so you like ice cream too, huh? Well, aren't you sweet? You know what? You're not at all like that dog that bit me when I was a kid. Oh, you know, Pastor Jay, you're feeling so down and you're feeling so bad about yourself, but don't you remember when you did that contest, you know, and you went on TV and you did that, and there was thousands and thousands of letters that poured in. They enjoyed you and thought you did a good job and loved your music and all. I mean, I thought that was just fantastic. It was just great that people got to see you. Yeah, I suppose that's that, but let's be honest. The stupid is far outweighed the good. I wouldn't say that. I think of all the lives that you've touched and all the things that you've done and, you know, all of that. Furthermore, I got something here that'll make you feel better. It came in the mail. You know, it's always great when you get a package and somebody gets you something and, you know, kind of lifts your spirits up and puts a smile back on your face. And look, your dog even has a big smile and licking and all. Hey, take it from her and put the chin up. You're not so bad. You helped a lot Diary Dear Jason, I just wanted to say I appreciate you following in your Uncle Joe's footsteps and becoming a preacher. He was very proud of you as well. Now that Joe has passed away, I thought I might send you his diary. You can read about his ups and downs. It may just help you when you get discouraged. Well I started off my ministry really well when I spilled the communion juice all over the vice chairman of the board What a way to begin I done some dumb things in my ministry so far but this one took the cake I went to the church to stoke the fire for the church service, and when I went back, I found the church burned to the ground. I didn't close the furnace door, and an ember flew out, and the church went up in flames. Yes, it was all my fault. In all my mistakes, I learned from them. Instead of getting frustrated or upset, I learned and I got better. Hello? Hello, Jason. This is Aunt Ruth. Oh, hey, Aunt Ruth. How are you doing? I'm doing fine. Yeah, I was sorry to hear about passing. Thank you. sad. But I do appreciate your sending me the journal. It's been an uplift to me, kind of helped me a little bit. I've been struggling a little bit with my pastorship here. You're very welcome. I tell you, I may be able to help you a little bit with that in that regard. Since Joe's passing, the church here in California has been looking for a new pastor. And we've talked about it and we think you might be the man for the job. California, huh? Yeah, California.
