Greetings, Classic Cinema fans. This is Pastor Jay here with you once again, bringing you another bingeable show and movie for your viewing during this pandemic that we're going through COVID-19. If you're watching this later, then we're probably not doing that anymore. But as we're recording these, we're going through the COVID-19 pandemic. And today we're talking some sci-fi with classic Buck Rogers of the 25th century. I love this show. Gil Gerard does an amazing take on the Buck Rogers character. Buck Rogers was in everything from serials to movie serials to radio shows to this TV show. Just everywhere. Comic books and books and all kinds of stuff. Buck Rogers' adventures was just amazing. To me, this is where I remember Buck Rogers because this is what I grew up in in the reruns of this show. So Gil Gerard is just, that's it for me. He is the quintessential Buck Rogers for me. I just think he did just an amazing job. He has that kind of lightheartedness to, brings a real lightheartedness to Buck Rogers that is just so cool. um, Aaron Gray, uh, as, uh, um, Wilma Deering is, what can you say, but wow, she's, she's, she's a great foil, a great, great addition to that cast, just awesome, and, and of course, um, who didn't love Twiki, the, uh, the robot, uh, that had the, uh, who was voiced by, uh, Mel Blanc, I mean, just awesome. The whole series was just amazing. Sadly, the series didn't last very long. There was only 37 episodes total. Many of them are two-parters. But it just didn last long And I don know why because it still has that It has all the fundamentals to make a great TV series I guess it just it didn resonate with people in the 70s I don't know. I just don't understand it. To me, I've watched it many times. I've watched the episodes, and I love them. I just think they're so cool. This box set here of Buck Rogers in the 25th century is really a cool one. You get this amazing cover here, but this is not just the cover. No, this is a slip cover. See that? And on the inside, you got this artwork, which I think just makes it so cool. I love those clear covers that you slip down on top and it gives you a different layered look. I just, I love those. I think they're spectacular. But anyway, there's what that looks like. You got this on the back, different artwork on the back. Very cool. This is the thing I don't like. Yeah, see this? We've got two-sided discs. I cannot stand two-sided discs. Okay, we've said this before, but I just, I hate them. I can't stand them. What are you going to do? It is what it is. Also, in addition to the, these, you get the discs, you get this booklet that gives you all the synopsis of all the episodes. They fold out to be a whole sheet front and back like this, giving you all of the episodes. Very, very cool. Now, there is one interesting thing with this that I do have to bring out. An interesting character, an actor, I should say, not character, but interesting actor that was in Buck Rogers for a guest spot was right there. If you can see it, it is Gary Coleman, a very young Gary Coleman at that time, still doing the show Different Strokes, and then coming in and doing Buck Rogers. Very, very cool. I just love this show. This probably is one of my favorite science fiction shows from the 70s. I don't know. And yet I love all the different shows of science fiction and that why we giving you this option of hey check out the Buck Rogers show because it just gives you an escape from what we going through In this COVID-19 pandemic that we're going through, we need escapism. We need something to just get away from all the stuff that's going on, all the bad stuff, and just kind to escape a little bit. And sometimes you need something that you can watch as a family and not be worrying about, well, am I going to be showing something to my kids that I'm going to wish I hadn't or whatever? That's why we're giving you these. Buck Rogers really is a show that is not going to offend anybody. There is a little bit, sometimes a little bit risque, shall I say, things with some of the alien women. They wear a little less clothes than Uma Deering does. But it's nothing by any means that you wouldn't see at a beach or something like that. So it's nothing that bad at all. It's really tame. There is a little A little bit of sci-fi violence with the shooting of the lasers and the different things, but nothing that over the top. It is just a really good, clean show filled with action that just will help you escape from all this stuff that we're going through. And that, I really think, is what makes this show such something that we need to watch. We need to get away from all the bad stuff and just kind of escape a little bit sometimes. It's a good thing to escape because we're going through so much bad stuff. So anyway, if you've never seen Buck Rogers of the 25th century, I do highly suggest this. It is a really awesome series. I have to be honest with you, I don't think that this series was ever released other than this set. I can't recall. If I'm mistaken, somebody let me know. But I think this is the only set that was ever released of Buck Rogers, if I'm not mistaken. If there is let me know I would like to know because I like to probably upgrade this and get out of these dual discs I cannot stand dual discs But I never seen any other than this There may be bootleg copies, but we're not doing that. We want the legal version. So anyway, Buck Rogers, 25th Century, definitely something to check out. If there is a different release, let me know. I'd love to hear from you.
