The film was restored by the UCLA Film and Television Archive and the Film Foundation.
The Blu-ray release includes both the color and black and white versions of the film.
It also features bonus content, including a featurette on the director and theatrical trailers.
Greetings Classic Cinema and TV fans, Pastor Jay here with you once again on a silver screen spotlight. And we got a question for you. When is the perfect time for all classic horror film? Anytime, that's right. Yeah, anytime you can enjoy a classic horror film is the right time. Some people would say, hmm, maybe the fall at Halloween. No, anytime is a good time to enjoy a good horror film. And wow, Warner Archive has given us a good horror film. This is a classic. Dr. X. This is really, really cool. A prescription for fright. that's what it says on the back right there that is so cool I love it anyway these old classic horror films are just so cool but anyway I wanted to share with you this is what it says here a scientist aims to solve a murder spree by recreating the crimes in his lab filled with dials, gizmos bubbling beakers and crackling electrostatic charges is essential for this genre. Yeah it was really really an interesting film This was created in released in 1932 so it one of those old classic old horror films Long before they became slasher and just crazy stuff, this was just psychological horror and all kinds of cool stuff like that. I love it. This is a really cool film because who is in this film is Fay Wray. Yes, pre her iconic role in the original King Kong, this was the Scream Queen. There's so many different ones that nowadays are called Scream Queens. This was the Scream Queen. Faye Ray, she was the Scream Queen. Nobody else can do it like her. She's spectacular. She's just great. Dr. X is so cool, and I'm going to tell you why it's so cool. First off, this film was released both in color and in black and white. Okay. What makes Warner Archives' release on Blu-ray so cool is this. This film, now check this out, has been restored by the UCLA Film and Television Archive and the Film Foundation in association with Warner Brothers Entertainment. And the thing looks absolutely amazing. I cannot believe they have like a little restoration before and after on this Blu and when you look at it and you see how amazing of a restoration this is it blows your mind It is absolutely unbelievable As we know, with older films, films get really deteriorated. Sometimes they lose frames and do different stuff and they get all kinds of spots and all kinds of bad pitting and all kinds of stuff in the picture. Well, they restored this thing, and it is unbelievable. I have seen restorations before, but this one is unbelievable. I mean, wow. They really took the time and really restored this with love. I mean, this thing is unbelievable. But what makes this really cool is not only do you get the restored color version of this film, you also get the black and white version, which is unbelievable. You get all kinds of bonus features as well, all kinds of awesome stuff, theatrical trailers, you get a featurette called The Horror Films of Michael Curtis, who is, of course, the director, all kinds of awesome stuff, you can just maybe freeze frame that if you want to and check all those bonus features out, look at that, that is just unbelievable, but just awesome stuff, awesome stuff, so yeah, I mean, if you're fan of those old classic horror films from the 30s, you have got to get Dr. X. And I'm going to tell you don put your money anywhere else trying to get a copy of this film other than this I telling you you going to be disappointed in any other release if you saw this one in comparison to any other You going to be disappointed I telling you This is the absolute most spectacular looking version of this film you will ever find anywhere It is that amazing. So definitely check this one out. You're going to love it. I'm telling you. It is spectacular.
