The woman had been crippled for 18 years and couldn't walk properly.
Jesus puts his hands on the woman and heals her.
Jesus defends his actions, pointing out that people care for their animals on the Sabbath.
Luke 13:10-17Deuteronomy 22:4
Jesus heals a crippled woman, a miracle that Jesus did. Jesus was in the synagogue. This is a building similar to a church today. It was the Sabbath, a weekly Jewish day of rest. No one works on this day. Instead, people gather to learn about God. There was a woman in the synagogue that day that had been crippled for 18 years and could not walk properly. Jesus went to her, put his hands on her, and said, Be free from your illness. Immediately, the woman stretched out and was able to walk straight again. She thanked Jesus for her healing and praised God. Some of the Jewish leaders did not like what Jesus did. They asked him, Why did you heal this woman on the Sabbath when working is forbidden? Isn't there enough time during the other six days of the week? But Jesus became angry. What's your problem? Don't you feed your animals in the Sabbath? Why would I leave this woman who has been sick for 18 years in her pain just because it is the Sabbath? They could not argue with this. The rest of the witnesses of the miracle were stunned and happy about what Jesus had just done.
