Greetings and welcome to this retro drive-in podcast. I am Jason Locker, Pastor Jay here with you once again. And yeah, the future is bright. Well, actually the past is bright. we're talking about probably one of the coolest shows of the 80s. Many people loved this show so very much. Something between us. The cool show Magnum P.I. Now, in the 80s, TV shows were really interesting. You had a lot of the really cool type of shows where they were always very interesting. You had your Miami Vice. You had your Magnum P.I. A couple of pretty fancy monicas there. In the late 70s into the 80s, people loved their cop shows. I mean, they really did. And so they were plentiful. And probably one of the ones that stand out to many people is Magnum P.I. because of Tom Selleck. Tom Selleck had this really interesting way about him. And he could play the character of Magnum P.I. in a very funny way, but a very dramatic way, and bring it all together. And he, you know, that self-deprecating humor that kind of endeared yourself to him, and yet he still was the tough guy, right? And that was what was making Magnum P.I. so cool. And, wow, you know, in the 80s, that was the thing. I mean, you know, cop shows. And here at Classic Cinema Plus, we have many of these cop shows in our collection here in the studios and all. And we are excited, absolutely excited to share with you. Just arrived at studios just yesterday, and we decided to dedicate a whole entire podcast to this brand new release. And we're talking about Magnum PI, the complete series on Blu-ray. Look at this. If you're watching the video version, you can see the amazing box set. Now, the interesting thing is Magnum PI is about a private detective named Magnum, Thomas Magnum, who is working in Hawaii, enjoying the sun and the surf and all that type of stuff. and just enjoying all that while being a private investigator and driving the cool cars those amazing Ferraris and all that type of cool stuff Just amazing amazing things But this box set is probably one of the coolest things that I think Mill Creek has ever put out. And let me tell you, they have put out some amazing stuff, from the complete series of Rockford Files to the complete series of Quantum Leap and Sliders, complete series of a classic TV show, Good Times, you know, Airwolf, so many amazing things that they've put out. but this one right here is just amazing now Magnum PI is a pretty amazing little series we've been checking out a couple episodes and yeah I like the humor of Magnum and all I just think it's pretty pretty cool but this box set really has me excited because this is amazing We're going to show you some really interesting things about this box set today on this podcast. And we'll tell you about it if you're listening to the audio, but you'll definitely want to check out all of the full written review of this. We'll have still shots of that so you'll be able to see all the still shots and everything of this. But when you remove the three Blu-ray sets, they're broken up into three. You got season 1 through 3. You got season 3 through 5. And then continuing season 6 through 8. And these are in three Blu-ray cases. And they have many awesome little Blu-rays included in each of these. And they're color-coded differently for each season, which is really, really cool. sometimes that's a pet peeve of mine is that some places some DVDs they'll make every DVD the same or every Blu-ray the same color or whatever and then if you're just picking one out you may pick out the wrong one by just not taking a quick look at it just grabbing one well it's pretty cool that they color coded all these so that every season has a color And it's a different color for each season, which I think is very, very cool, making it very, very cool. We want to talk about the box set for a second. This box set is kind of a harder cardboard, very sturdy. But there's something very interesting. You get the awesome artwork on the front of Magnum PI there, like that. Magnum is on the back there, pretty, pretty awesome. And I love that. But the interesting thing is what is on the inside of this protective box cover. I don know if you going to be able to see it but right inside there is a picture of Magnum right on the box set That is pretty cool Love that Love that Okay now more interesting things about this box set is the fact of these Blu-ray cases, okay? Now, when you look at them, at first glance, you say, wow, that's kind of interesting. Season 1 through 3, season 3 through 5, and season 6 through 8. When you put them together, they make one complete looking mural. Look at that. Isn't that pretty cool? That is pretty awesome. Now, as cool as that is, that's not it. That's not all. There is something else very, very cool. on the back you have complete different artwork and it's not just artwork of like oh well it's um you know the box cover art or it's this is what's included in the set or whatever that's not what you get this one is another mural and we'll see if we can do that look at that isn't that cool that is pretty awesome so we get murals on these blu-ray sets pretty pretty awesome stuff uh i'm i'm in love with this set i really am i'm in love with this set i think this is probably some of the best stuff mill creek has ever come up with i mean it really and they have come up with some amazing things don't get me wrong there's a lot of stuff i love i love their retro vhs uh blu-rays i love all their box sets of their TV shows and different things. We have so many of them here at the studios. But this one here, they put a lot of love into this set. I mean, this is amazing. Now, you get the whole entire, all eight seasons on Blu-ray, but the interesting thing is, with this box set, you're getting all kinds of bonus features as well. You get new interviews, which is really cool. You get The Rockford Connection which is two episodes of The Rockford Files that feature Tom Selleck. Now this is pretty cool. Some people maybe have never seen Rockford Files so maybe they love this and they've never seen Rockford Files well now they get to see this. It's pretty cool. It is a pretty cool show. So that's a pretty cool thing. You get flashback featurettes which is pretty cool. Audio commentaries all kinds of awesome stuff. Um, wow. So Mill Creek really put a lot of love into this set. And, uh, I am, uh, loving it. I like it. I like it. Who doesn't love a little Tom Selleck, you know? That mustache, you know? I mean, not everybody can have a mustache like that, right? You know, I'm not trying to grow one, you know? But anyway, but that's pretty cool. I love it. So, yeah, Magnum PI, the complete series. We're going to have a full written review of this. We going to go into great great detail on this box set and let you know all about it And it is from what we seen so far we haven watched the whole thing because let face it, there's eight seasons here. But what we have seen, the quality looks pretty, pretty amazing. It really does. The quality looks pretty stellar, you know, on Blu-ray. And, yeah, and it's a fun little series. It's got the beautiful locations of Hawaii and all the fun. And like I said, Magnum P.I. was just, it was not meant to be a, you know, Miami Vice type of show. It was more of an escapism type of show. And it really does. It helps you escape from the cares of life and just kind of lets you just enjoy the fun of an adventure in Hawaii. And that sometimes, you know, we can take a vacation to Hawaii from the comfort of our couch with Magnum PI. So there you go. And it's a beautiful, beautiful looking Blu-ray set. And more than anything, I just love the way it is, the box set is. I just think that is really, really cool. So filled with bonus features, amazing all eight seasons on three Blu-ray sets, beautiful box art, murals front and back. I mean, wow. What more can you ask for? Mill Creek really has went above and beyond with this set. So, yeah, it's pretty cool. It's pretty cool. I'm looking forward to jump into every one of these and kind of enjoying the ride with Magnum PI in that beautiful Ferrari from the 80s. Oh, man.
