Psalms 1: The Path of Righteousness and Ungodliness Explained

There are three categories of ungodly people: those who deviate from God's path, those born into unrighteous families, and those who reject God's existence.

Hello there, good morning and good evening and a warm welcome to one and all of you and I greet you in the name of our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It's always a pleasure that I'm able to connect with you through these sessions and together we are able to have this fellowship under the holy presence of God. And why these sessions are very important is because off late, I have noticed one thing, not off late in the sense, at least in the last two, two and a half years in this pandemic situation, there are a lot of unforeseen and unprecedented events. What you think, what you predict, what you desire is not what you get at the end of the day. A lot of surprises and many people are dead and gone and near ones, dear ones are gone. Many people lost their jobs, many people have become homeless, hopeless and all that. So the time that we have in the presence of Lord is very, very, very short. And the time that we have to live on this planet Earth is also very limited, stipulated. Therefore, we cannot afford to lose any time. We really, really have to stay focused on this life after death. What is in store after we pass away from this planet Earth is something that you and I really, really need to watch and start thinking about it. And may God lead us. Today, a warm welcome again. Today, we are going to get into this short session. and today we are going to discuss from the first book in Psalms. All of us know Psalms, all of us are really fond of Psalms and the reason is because Psalms are nothing but it's like a poetry, it's like a poem. But many people think, we are going to kick off today actually and we will see how long it takes, how many other sessions it takes. We are going to discuss on Psalms one by one and therefore we will be able to comprehensively cover the book of Psalms. That's the whole idea. But may God lead us. The book of Psalms is nothing but the experiences, the personal experiences of David. It's not like he was sitting with a pen and paper and then he was looking at the sky and started counting the stars. Suddenly he got an idea and he started writing some poetic stuff and then it became Psalms. It's not like that. Many people don't even get this, right? These are real experiences. These are true events. And after the true events, as part of the true events, while the true events were taking place, David records and writes it down, giving all the glory to God. And not only Psalms, the whole bunch of Psalms, 150 Psalms are there in the book of Psalms, not written only by David. It's written by various other people like Asaph, the sons of Korah, Moses also registered something there. Like that you will see mixture and varieties of various people registering their true events and thoughts about God's greatness in their life. So let's start with Psalms 1. Psalms 1 of course it holds a lot of prominence because of few aspects that are being mentioned about the godly and ungodly. The title is like the way of the righteous and the end of the ungodly. The way of the righteous seems to be never-ending. Even to this day also, there are a lot of righteous people who might have lived on earth and gone. People whom you know, people whom you may not know. People whom you have referred in the Bible, people who have crossed the path in your life, right? You might have met them, you know, personally or you might not have met them personally. For example, there are various righteous people in the Bible and whom we have not seen whom we have not known. But we truly understand that their ways were righteous, their paths were righteous. Why? Because they stuck to the promises of God. They stuck to the visions of God. They stuck to the statues, the laws and commandments of God. And that's why their ways were righteous too. Typical examples are Moses, Joshua, Joseph, the Old Testament, Joseph, and all the prophets like Jeremiah, Isaiah, Obadiah, Mecca, Malachi, all the folks. In the New Testament, you see John the Baptist all the way to John the Disciple who wrote the book of Revelation and Paul the Apostle and Peter's were never exceptional. They were all righteous people, saints of God, living according to the promises and the word of God. What is so unique and special and exceptional about this people who walk in the righteousness of God versus the ungodly people? Many of us should understand the key differences between these two concepts or these two doctrines. The righteous people of God, if you see, they will always be bothered about what is God thinking about me. They are always concerned about their life after death because they have a strong belief. After they finish their race, after they finish their life on earth, they are going to be with God. And how am I going to face God? What accounts am I going to settle with God? And how would I even have that encounter with God if I don't think, if I don't do things right according to the ways of God according to his likeness right that why you will see them doing everything right on earth and after they are passed and they have gone out of earth they walk in confidence into the presence of god whereas you look at the ungodly they are a bunch of trespassers they are a bunch of transgressors trespassing and transgressing i told you already people who do things in a wrong way unknowingly they have nobody told them that this is wrong or they were not aware and then they discover they repent and reconcile with God. Transcribers, knowingly, like King Saul, he understands all the rules, he also understands the laws, but then he had no patience to wait for prophet Samuel. He kept on insulting Samuel and God, right? And finally, God had to hand him over to the, you know, the devil and obviously, you know, what was his tragic end. So, if you look at the ways of ungodly, they would have started very well, but somewhere in the course, somewhere in the journey of their walk with God, they would have deviated. There is a third category of people where they are born in unrighteous family. They were never taught about godly ways at all, right? For example, Jezebel, she was the daughter of, you know, paganite priest and she was never taught, you know, righteousness at all. And she always, you know, was clinging to that. But she had an opportunity. King Ahab was from the Jewish race. She also knew about this God of Israel. She also knew why Elijah hated her but she never would make an opportunity effort or an opportunity take an effort make an effort or take an opportunity to come to the side of god and that is called as absolutely rebellion right trespassing transgression rebellion three people three categories in ungodly you know ungodly format has got three categories third one is the worst rebels right and the command of the great army jesus would be coming as the command of the great army to fight against these rebels in revelation 19 you can see that and this was demonstrated in joshua 6 or 7 right you can see that command of the great joshua 10 i think command of the great army and he will lead the army to fight against all the people who rebelled against him and the saints of god and god is not going to spare any of them now now there is there are other categories like atheists right they don't believe that there is something called that was there is someone called as god this nature created it's by all by itself big bang theory white galaxy milk what is it milk way milky way something like that the galaxy was formed there was a big blast it explodes and one of the pieces something like earth so many scientifical theory they said darwin's theory man came from monkey so they don't believe in god they believe in you know in a concept that nature created uh you know got found all by itself so those people obviously will find how foolish they were and the white throne judgment because god is going to judge them specifically although the truth is being revealed you know revealed they they don't find fall into the category of ripple or transgressors or trespassers but they belong to the foolish category like foolish virgins they know that for sure the you know the the bride is sorry groom is going to come but then they'll say let's see let him come after that we will check on the oil and all that so these people would never pay attention to what is right and what is wrong. You all understood. So you always want to be definitely on the side of righteous. The reason is because God called us to be righteous, live as righteous, think like righteous, walk as righteous and then finally be with the righteous and all the righteous shall be gathered in one place. That's called as a city of God, the kingdom of heaven and all of us would have the privilege to worship God. So I was just stuck to the title. Now let's see what the psalmist is got to say it'll be very interesting blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly so that's why you know these folks who are really really filled with the wisdom the courage the knowledge and the light and wisdom they will never have any they will never partake in the presence of ungodly they won't hate them they won't count them as their enemies but they have nothing to do with such people why because they know that they are rebels or there are rebels means adversaries. They are rebels or transgressors or trespasses or someone who would never want to pay attention to the statues of God, right? The laws and commandments of God. And this is principle number one. If you are a righteous person, you will not be someone fair with it, right? You will be here, you will be there. Peter was fought once in Jews and then he will be with Gentiles and he will be acting accordingly, changing the cap. And Paul rebuked him this is not the way to minister the word of god this is not the way to behave paul literally rebuked him and this is something that you got to learn from a person like paul quite bold enough nor stands in the path of sinners right you will never follow the footprints of sinners whoever it may be it may be your own father if they are doing something against god you don't have to necessarily follow them right um that's why you can read the first kings and second kings there a lot of especially first chronicles and second chronicles there are a lot of people who will be sinning sinning sinning suddenly there will be one king who will be arising and reading the scriptures and he will start to walk according to the scriptures and not according to their forefathers traditions right you need to pray for the spirit not by my forefathers traditions or some orthodox principles or something like that which was taught to me taught to me by my forefathers but i want to learn from you my father this must be the attitude of every believer in christ every person who had the dress who have the respect for god this is the way how he will look to live his life nor sits in the seats of the scornful yeah the scornful the wicked people right the evil people filled with evil thoughts sitting together and always devising a plan how they can do work like for example some bad politicians and bad business people you know some people who are terrorists how they can basically go and create a terror and attack you know someone and all that always thinking in a negative way you will never make your way in or you in or you will never make your presence in the midst of such people this is principle number one best way to identify um who you are and who you want to be right these are the wonderful checklist that you can read from psalms 1 excuse me but his delight is in the law of the lord and in his law he meditates day and night this what is his law law and commandment i told you the difference law means what you know you are not given a choice you are a violator if you don't follow the law follow the law commandment is by choice you can you can follow it's for your good if you don't violate you will be inflicted right you will be you will be the victim for that for example the traffic rules you don't follow obviously you'll be judged by the law but then when you're climbing down the slope there is a signboard hey go slow don't go more than 30 kilometers per hour but if you go at 80 kilometers per hour you will go and you're not able to control and you will fall down the cliff you are the loser you will be dead but here he doesn't mention about commandment he talks about the law i want to read every promise of god every instruction every guideline every checklist given to us if you want to know checklists there are a lot of checklists in the bible ephesians chapter 5 1 john chapter 2 complete chapter you read and romans 12 verses 12 to 22 and what is that colossians 3 verses 12 to 17 and second corinthians 6 1 to 10 mark of a a christian behavior pattern of a christian character of a new man all these things are you a person walking in wisdom and light or what is your spiritual status how do you know that you are spiritually strong all these things you will find the checklist and this is nothing but evaluating whether you are falling in the principles in line to the law and commandments of god whereas here he says i will he will he will always meditate day and night right he will always check on the word of god meditating means allowing the word of god to travel through your life and therefore the word of God will justify and judge here while you live on earth whether you are walking as the you know your walks, your talks, your conduct, your speech, your level of purity and holy deeds are in accordance to the word of God or is it pleasing in the sight of God. Is God pleased with you or not? You will be able to discover all of this. What a wonderful experience We cannot miss on any of these. We got to really be careful every single day to check on ourselves. A person who would want to be on the side of God will always check on himself. He will never walk in assumption and that's why he will never fall in deception. Nextly, he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither and whatever he does, he shall prosper. Yeah, in the regular seasons, as a student, he will be prosperous. after that he becomes professional he will be prosperous married man prosperous he begets kid you know as a father he's prosperous as husband he's prosperous as a son as a daughter he or she is prosperous and then he gets into ministry and he starts to preach the word of god prosperous and at his workplace he's prosperous materialistic prosperous spiritual deeds his thoughts one good example is 1 Timothy 4.2 he is good in conduct in speech in purity right as a role model the person will be a good role model why because of the reasons what we discussed right is always aligned to the word of god he always walks very carefully checking on the word of god and is not taking anything for granted right such a person will always be prosperous and i'm not only touching on materialistic prosperity here but even otherwise spiritually spiritual prosperity comes first and materialistic prosperity follows without a choice seek the kingdom of the Lord first in his righteousness the rest of all will be added to you so materialistic prosperity is not a big criteria it's not a big deal for the father to bless you to make you a millionaire or a trillionaire no problem for him but then getting in alignment to the spiritual deeds and walking in laws and commandments of God that is a big deal because that choice is in your hands and my hands God the father will never impose anything Matthew 6.33 is what I spoke just now The ungodly are not so but are like the chaff which the wind drives away you know, you never know the red breeze will come this direction, that direction instability you will see them talking something in the morning afternoon something else, evening they decide something exactly opposite to what they spoke in the morning that will be their lifestyle every single day there will be no consistency in their behavior There will be no targets no mission no vision no goal everything they do will be a disaster they be such a spoiled sport they'll be such a pain to the people to their parents to their families and all that you might have definitely seen a lot of people in your life come across right and the reason is because they have not set these basic principles right and that is a reason they suffer and they such a burden to others too, right? And they're called as ungodly, by the way. If you're thinking oh, you're someone else, you're somebody and you're still a Christian, you're not Christian. You're ungodly. Bunch of unclean spirits have possessed you. You have given room for the demons to rule in you. Today is your chance, my beloved friend, my beloved brother, sister. Come to the course of correction. Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. Remember this. Ungodly shall not stand in the judgment. Revelation 20.10, if you take and read, there is a lake of fire being kindled for the first time. And who will be thrown in there are the angels who rebelled against God. That is along with Lucifer and along with those false prophets. And you know who will fall in the false prophet category? All those people who are sluggish enough, rebels I told you, transgressors, trespassers and also the foolish people. They are not wicked, but they are foolish. They have not paid attention. They are simply sluggish. They were walking in negligence and ignorance. What a disaster. You don't deserve to be there, right? You could have been little more careful. You could have been little more cautious and then you would have escaped from that. You know, you don't even have that opportunity that God would judge you, right? You miss what opportunity to be part of that eternal life walking with God and that's why it is so hurting when I see people wasting their time, not doing things right in its appropriate time and season and not walking according to the will of God, not seeking God's guidance. You are all wicked according to the Bible. In fact, ungodly. Lastly, lastly, we will see this and we will close. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. How does God know the way of the righteous? Because you are walking by the checklist. I already told you, right? God knows how you make the decisions, how careful you are to watch out and how careful you are to pray, how careful you are to check on what are the carnal deeds versus the spiritual deeds. Carnal deeds come from the devil, worldly practices, right? Whereas the spiritual deeds, it comes from the God Almighty. Because why? He is the one who had engraved those laws and commandments, putting in a lot of rules, putting in a lot of guidelines. this is not to suppress anybody this is not to crush anybody or create burdens or barriers, right? obstacles, no this is to clear the burdens this is to clear the obstacles, other way around the viles of the devil, how are you able to overcome? the devil, the demons, the evil spirits they create barriers and destroyers and they are confused they are someone who caused confusions how can you overcome? when you follow these rules, you will be able to overcome right? and therefore you are called as righteous And therefore you are in the presence of God forever and ever, eternally. You don't lose the crown of life. You don't lose that great opportunity to be part of eternity. Right? And that's why God is able to judge you while you are here itself. He is able to identify whether you are righteous or not. And if God is able to identify, he is able to reveal it to you. Holy Spirit will keep on telling you, what you are doing is not right. Watch out. This is not right. This is not right. You will keep on ignoring. And this is called as negligence. And people who are negligent and ignorant about this word of God, they are also arrogant, right? And Mr. Lucifer is arrogant and he was not ready to pay attention to God. He could have repented saying that, sorry, Father, I did it. I'm sorry, my thoughts were evil. Forgive me. There was a sorcerer during the days of Peter. He was trying to bribe and get the Holy Spirit. And when Peter rebuked him, he repents and he says, sorry, forgive me. I did it unknowingly. I thought it's like a business. and he was forgiven. He was let go. Curse did not come on him. Likewise, today is your chance. If you weren't very careful and cautious, checking on your deeds, checking on your ways, today is your chance.
