Greetings, classic cinema and TV fans. Jason here with you once again, bringing you another Classic Cinema Plus. Today we are talking about an animated series that has just passed the silver anniversary. It's unbelievable to really even fathom at this point that Powerpuff Girls is 26 years old. I mean, it's unbelievable. And being that we're past the 25th anniversary, now we're seeing Powerpuff Girls, the complete TV series on DVD. We're going to jump into this and talk about the Powerpuff Girls today on Classic Cinema Plus. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. All right, Powerpuff Girls was released in the year 1998, 26 years ago. I mean, it's unbelievable, mind-blowing to even think that this show is 26 years old. Time flies. It really does. Powerpuff Girls basically is about a professor who accidentally creates these three superpowered girls in a laboratory. He names them Blossom and Bubbles and Buttercup. And their superpowers help them to save Townsville from evildoers like Mojo Go Go, the gang, Green Gang, and him. And it's just a really kind of crazy off-the-wall type of series, but it's a lot of fun. Those that have watched this on Cartoon Network probably loved it. Um, you know, it was, it was unique. It was, uh, the animation was really, uh, kind of like, um, uh, taken from anime, if you will. Uh, it kind of has that feel of anime to me. Um, you know, and, and, uh, so it was, it was a lot of fun. Uh, you know, the, the, uh, the, the classic, you know, I, I, I'll be honest with you. CGI is good. CGI animation is good, especially in this day and age, it's gotten a lot better. Um but uh for me the the classic animation is uh you know holds a special place in my heart I love classic animation from the old animation of the old shows like the Batman animated series, the Superman animated series, Justice League. The classic animation is just spectacular to me. Um, now things have gotten to where everything's CGI, um, computer animated. Uh, and, and, and I, I think it loses a lot. I don't, I don't think it has the, the same appeal. At least to me, it doesn't. Uh, we've seen like, uh, um, Rugrats, uh, getting rebooted and, uh, the computer animation just, it doesn't do anything for me. It really doesn't. It kind of, I felt like it, I get lost in it. It's just like, I don't really care. And see, that's why I enjoy the classic animation. Well, see, that's what Powerpuff Girls was. Powerpuff Girls was in a time before really computer animation was really well done. And it's well done in this day and age, but it's just, For me, I love the classic animation. And boy, is this a cool box set, though. Really, really cool. Cartoon Network and Warner Brothers have joined forces and brought us the complete TV series of Powerpuff Girls. All 78 episodes plus more. You get your box, you know, cover. You know, it's a pretty thick cover there. And then same artwork on the inside for this. With most of these big collections anymore, we're seeing this type of box where the discs are in a spindle that comes out. Season 1 is in blue. Season 2 in pink. Season 3 in green. Season 4, blue. Season 5, another type of green. So, yeah, it's kind of like put out in a unique way so that you know where you're at. When you get all the same discs, sometimes color-wise, you can get lost. You can get the wrong one. That's happened to me before. This is kind of nice when you have the different colors They could have come up with different colors instead of having green and blue and green and pink and pink and blue You see they could have come up with some different colors I think like a light purple, a yellow, different things made it all different colors. It would have been kind of better, but it is what it is. And I know it's color-coded for Powerpuff Girls, and I get that, but I'm just saying it would have been better probably, in my opinion. But that's minor, very, very minor complaint there. Anyway, but season one, season two, two discs, season three, season four, two discs, season five, and season six, two discs. All of them are on two discs set. Now, the interesting thing is we get, which I love, you get a booklet here, which is really cool. Sometimes with some of these releases, you get no booklet. to tell you what's on the disc. We've seen that with certain releases, and that really is a bad thing because then you have no clue where you're at. Well, this is pretty cool because it is. Season one, season two, season three, season four, season five, season six, all right there. It gives you all the list of all the episodes on there. Pretty awesome. Now, in addition to all 78 episodes on this. There's over 30 hours of content, including a holiday special and fan favorite extras. There's commentaries. There's featurettes. So much going on here. I mean, just so much going on here. It's just amazing. Warner Brothers really put a lot of work into this to really bring together a really epic box set for fans of Powerpuff Girls. Whether you love Powerpuff Girls or not, that I can't say. But while I was not a huge fan of Powerpuff Girls, I appreciate it. I do. I appreciate the fun of the series. And I appreciate the animation. I really do. I think the animation is pretty awesome. From what I've seen so far, I've only watched a couple episodes. This is sort of a first look video. I've only watched the first couple episodes. We're going to have a full written review of this coming up in a little bit. But from what I've seen so far, these episodes look pretty nice. There no pixelation no digital artifacts The audio seems pretty crisp and clean It looks pretty good to me And for me I think to have the whole series in one box set that real slim is awesome Because when you're a physical media collector like me, space is a premium. It really is. Because if you're not careful, you can get overrun by your Blu-rays and your DVDs. So I personally like when they put the box sets like this and they're very slim and all. I don't mind this, although this is not the best way to do this. Because I do have some where these have kind of fell apart. and they don't stay in together. So I have seen that. I will also say with these type of boxes, they're very flimsy in a lot of ways. So you have to be extremely careful because if this falls against anything or falls on the floor, it is gone. It's real brittle and real flimsy. so you have to be very, very careful with it. But if you are careful, this will last you a lifetime. It really will. I'm looking forward to bringing you a full written review of Powerpuff Girls at Classic Cinema Plus. So, yeah, it's a fun series, and so far it looks pretty awesome on DVD.
