Kevin, a 13-year-old boy, gets into trouble in Manila, Philippines, and is kidnapped by crooks.
He meets Rina, a girl who was also kidnapped, and they try to escape.
Kevin's friend Julio comes to their rescue, and they work together to get out of the warehouse.
Kevin shares the Gospel with Julio, and Julio accepts Jesus as his Savior.
Our story takes place in Manila, a big city in the Philippines. Like so many big cities in the world, there are lots of homeless people, many of them children. For the most part, these children have no families, so they must take care of themselves. Not only do they need food and a place to sleep, but they also need someone to love them and to tell them how much Jesus cares for them and wants to give them a new life. that's where Kevin and his parents come in they're missionaries people who tell other people about Jesus today is Kevin's birthday all he wants is a diver's watch and what a surprise when his wish actually came true but deep inside Kevin was unhappy you see he really didn't want to live in this country Kevin's dad and the pastor of a local church Worked together in this center for street kids They're excited telling the children about Jesus But Kevin, well, he was not interested Dad, can I go to the jeep? Okay, but don't wander off It can get pretty dangerous around here when it gets dark All Kevin wanted was to get away from those noisy kids they were just a reminder of how much he missed his friends back home and all the fun he could be having the last thing Kevin wanted was to think about this little kid's need to him he was just a dirty bagel to get rid of maybe it just didn't cross his mind that God loved him too and that everyone is precious in the sight of God. Hey! Get out of here! Get off! Why couldn't they just leave him alone? Get off of there! Go! Leave me alone! But Kevin was about to experience a frightening adventure and he would never be the same. Don't let me see you in my coma! Where is he? Sorry! And just when he thought it couldn't get any worse... I want money. Here. Pesos, no dollars? No, only pesos. That's all I've got. Not that this bothered him or anything, but maybe he knew something about this warehouse that Kevin didn Come on! Mom, I can't find Kevin anywhere. All right, I'll go look for him. Not only was Kevin scared, but he was truly sorry for how he had strayed away from God. I know I've been a real jerk lately. The way I've been treating everyone. And you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Who else was in here? Her name was Rina. She was kidnapped by the same crooks that had thrown Kevin into this... this prison. How old is the boy? Thirteen. What time did he get lost? All Kevin could think about was the trouble he was going to be in when his parents found out what he'd gotten himself into. But Rina, well, she wished that she had parents to worry about her. Are you an orphan? Listen Lie down quickly These two crooks were part of a drug operation And the old warehouse was a perfect cover up The brain behind all of it was a con man simply known as Boss M. Even though the final decision was with him, these guys had some definite ideals for Kevin. He already knew too much, so there was only one thing to do with him. What'd they say? I couldn't understand them. They want to kill you. Just as Kevin's dad loved his son and would not give up on his search for him, so God loves each one of us no matter how far we have wandered away from him What that for This will bring us luck What Maybe this will help us get out from this place I don't know anything about that, but I do know if you pray to God that he will help us. Really? Sure. He's our friend, and he wants to help. All we have to do is ask. Come on. Rina, look. Skylight. I've got an idea. In order to get to the skylight, this wall would have to come down. Come on, help me. Meanwhile, there was somebody else coming to the rescue. Somebody Kevin knew only too well. His name was Julio. What's that? Those kids. Let's check it out. Come on. Yeah. Okay. Give me the key. Uncle, look first. Then when I reach outside, I'll pull you up. Reena! It's my brother! Hey, what are you doing here? You're the guy that robbed me. How did you find me? All right, let's find later. Come on, let's get out of here. Okay, Reena, we... Come on! Kevin, it's too high. You can do it. I can't reach you. Sure you can. Hurry up! Hold on, hold on. Pull her up. Pull her up. No! They're getting away. Pull her up. Kevin! Why did everything have to go wrong? Now Kevin and Julio decided that they would have to work together if they were going to rescue Rina. Kevin wanted to go to the police, but Julio insisted that they would try his plan first. Just still be awake. We'll be back at dawn when everybody's sleeping, okay? Okay, get some sleep. But even Julio was worried. Would his plan work? Are you scared? Yeah, a little bit. Me too. But I prayed that God would protect Rina and me. He prayed for my sister. Yes. Well, I wish I could. But so far, I've done nothing but to get into trouble. Okay, look, let's talk to God. Will you cut it out with a God talk? But God loves us. Maybe he loves you, but not me. He loves everyone. You don't know what I've done. What we do here to survive. But it doesn't matter. That's why Jesus died on the cross, to pay for our sins, all of our sins. You really believe that, don't you? Yes, I was just as guilty as you are, till I asked him to forgive me and make me part of his family. And now? Now I'm forgiven. Now I'm his friend. Friends with God? You could be too. I mean, if you wanted to. Look, I have a lot of things in my mind. And it was at that moment that Kevin found himself truly caring for Julio. He wanted so much for him to come to Jesus But suddenly the time had come for the rescue It was going to be now or never I go look for you Okay go The big boss, Boss M, had arrived. Check that out. Would he carry out his threat towards Kevin? And what about Rina? What was going to happen to her? Those are good shots. Lena! Lena! Thank God you're safe. Don't worry. We'll get you out of here. Get me behind you. Hey, boss M. It's me you want, right? You little double-crossy. more than anything else Kevin wanted to see his new friend live and what a relief when his dad showed up and did he forgive his son? you bet he did but for the moment everybody had only one thing in mind and that was to get Julio to the hospital as quickly as possible Will my brother be all right? Yes, Reena. With the help of Jesus, I believe he will. Jesus? Yes. Kevin told me all about him. You know, Jesus is not on the cross anymore. He's not dead. He's alive. And he wants to live inside your heart. Would you like that? I'd like that very much. Well, better go get the others. Reena's really worried about you. Kevin? I have something to ask you. Remember the other night when you told me about God forgiving you? Sure. He'll forgive you too. All you gotta do is ask. Well, could you, you know, help me? Absolutely. Let's pray right now. Thank you Jesus, Amen What a night it had been for Kevin For the first time in his life He was able to see that all people are precious in the sight of God And they all have a longing and emptiness inside Which only Jesus can fill Do you know Jesus as your Savior and Lord? if not why don't you invite him to come into your heart just like Julio you can receive a brand new life and with Jesus in control there is no one we can't love and nothing can keep us from being what God wants us to be
